All you writing enthusiasts out there may be interested to hear that Tipperary Libraries are holding a short story competition. The competition is open to adults and senior cycle secondary school students (transition year and above). The winner will be chosen by best-selling novelist Frank Delaney and will receive a cash prize of €200.

Renowned Author Peter Tremayne visits Cashel Library
In this age when entertainment is more in demand than formal lectures, the great challenge is how to make people throughout the world aware of the unique civilisation which existed here between the arrival of Christianity in 432AD and the Norman invasion in the 12th century. Fortunately, Peter Berresford Ellis, has brought the whole period to life by writing a series of books under the pen name Peter Tremayne on the adventures of a nun – Sr. Fidelma in the seventh century. The nun-sleuth Sister Fidelma has brought an enormous amount of publicity to the town of Cashel and deserves to be recognised for her efforts.
There were about thirty five guests present to listen to and question Peter Berresford Ellis, who is a historian, literary biographer and novelist who has published over 90 books to date under his own name and his pseudonym Peter Tremayne. A prolific writer, who is enthused by knowledge, Peter certainly educated the crowd.
