Clonmel
Multicultural Workshops in Clonmel Library
Clonmel Library staff presented a series of six workshops for children over the Summer holidays The six countries chosen this year were Poland, Lithuania, India, Malaysia, Ireland: the Travellers, and Australia. Anne Marie organized these very successful and very well attended workshops. Each day children took part in art and craft sessions, food tasting, customs and traditions with a native from each country now resident in Clonmel. David let the kids have a go with an Australian Rules ball, Pinky from Malaysia let children taste some Malaysian foods, Damian had some tasty Polish sweets, Sangeeta wore her traditional sari, Laura from Lithuania showed children pictures of Lithuania, Ellen made fabulous paper roses.
Australia
Pictured beneath is David DeGrandi from Victoria, Australia. David and his family spoke to the children about their life in Australia and what the differences are between both Ireland and Australia. The children coloured the Australian flag, did puzzles and an animal search. David treated the kids to Vegemite sandwiches and Timtam biscuits and they sang their national anthem and we all sang Waltzing Matilda. 35 kids attended.
