We had a very busy Science Week in Carrick-on-Suir Library. ‘Professor’ Pat hosted 3rd and 4th classes from Presentation Primary School on Monday 9th November. He enthralled them with loads of experiments and ‘horrible’ scientific facts.
On Friday the 13th we had visits from schools from Newtown Upper, Owning and the CBS Carrick-on-Suir. Mark from Green Bee Education gave a really interesting workshop on the Pollinator Project. The project aims to encourage an interest in natural science from a young age and also hopes to draw attention to the plight of the bee in Ireland. Unfortunately they have been having a very hard time lately and this project aims to give them a helping hand.
The students got to try a bee keeper’s suit and to plant their own marrowfat peas which they will have to care for over the next few months.
Well done and thanks to Pat and Mark for a very interesting and fun Science Week.
