Carrick on Suir library became a theatre, for one night only, on Wednesday 11th November, where they staged a play called ‘A Winter’s Dress’ by up and coming Kilkenny Playwright Angela Keogh. This is a story of a dress maker and a scribe. It’s a story of life, love and laughter in the face of the Black Death where a dress maker and a scribe meet on their way to Kilkenny in 1348 and share their stories to shorten the journey. One of them is carrying more than a gift to the city.
The actors were Angela Keogh herself and renowned Irish writer John MacKenna and they performed to a packed house. A very enjoyable event and an evocative play now that winter has settled with us. Carrick Library is indebted to their collective talent and we look forward to many more collaborations in the future.
