Author Catherine Dunne spoke to a very interested and responsive audience at Nenagh Library yesterday as part of our programme of Bealtaine events. Feedback from those who attended the talk on ‘the social history of Irish immigrants in London’ was very positive, with all praising her approach to such an interesting and moving topic. Some of the audience later had recollections to share from their own experiences and Catherine was praised for her skill in directing the talk. Staff wish to thank Catherine for providing such a lively and interactive discussion. Anyone who missed yesterday’s event can catch Catherine at Roscrea Library today, Wednesday May 6th at 3pm where she will give the same talk. She also visits Cashel Library tomorrow May 7th at 3pm and Killenaule Library tomorrow evening at 7.30 pm. Her final talks will take place in Cahir Library on Friday May 8th at 11 am and in Carrick on Suir Library on Friday at 3pm. Catherine’s highly recommended book An Unconsidered People: The Irish in London is available for lending in several branches.
