Q. Can I search for books on Tipperary Libraries Catalogue online at home?

A. Yes, anyone with access to the internet can search Tipperary Libraries Catalogue.

Q. Can I check my library account and request books online?

A. Members of the automated branches e.g. Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel, Clonmel, Nenagh, Roscrea, Templemore, Tipperary, Thurles, Cahir and Killenaule can check their library accounts online, renew books and request books online as well. Contact your library for details of your PIN No. which you will need to use this facility. Pin No's are freely available to over 14 year olds, however under 14 year olds must get written permission from their parents or guardians to avail of this service. Click here to access your account, once you have your barcode and PIN No. at hand.

  • Advantages of having a PIN (Personal Identification Number) After you register your PIN, you may renew and request books etc. without having to visit the Library.
  • How do I obtain a PIN? To register a PIN, present your library card in person to a member of staff at your local library. Your PIN may be any four-digit number.
  • Renewing borrowed items through the internet Using your four-digit PIN and 14-digit membership card no., you may renew borrowed items over the internet. The maximum no. of online renewals per checkout is set at two, but items cannot be renewed if they have been requested by others, or when you membership has expired.
  • Requesting items throught the internet (Books, CDs, etc.) Use the Quick Search or Advanced Search to search the library catalogue. If the required item is listed, click on the Request Copy button after selecting the copy or item - preferably a copy listed in the branch library you use. When placing a request for an item, please choose from the Copy/Holding screen, selecting an available copy in the library you normally use. This speeds up the the request process. If that library does not hold an available copy, you may select a copy from any of our libraries.
  • Borrowers should search Tipperary Libraries’ catalog first but if you cannot find what you are looking for in one of our libraries, please search Borrowbooks.ie. Borrowbooks.ie allows you to search and request from the catalogues of participating public libraries across the country. If you are still unsuccessful please contact a member of Tipperary Libraries staff for advice.
