Bibliotheraphy - Healthy Reading

NEWS: Suicide and Your Community
A suicide information evening is taking place in Colaiste Pobal, Roscrea on Thursday the 24th of March starting at 6.30pm. The event is being run by a number of agencies including Aras Follain, Citizen Information Services, The HSE, North Tipperary Community and Voluntary Association (CAVA), North Tipperary LEADER Partnership, North Tipperary VEC, Tipperary Libraries and Thurles Action for Community Development (TACD). The aim of this event is to inform people about the supports that are available both in the community and from agencies in relation to suicide. People who attend on the night will also have a chance to listen to people who have been through hard times and have come through it. The night will be split into two parts. The first part will consist of stands from various service providers and support groups in North Tipperary. This is to allow people to find out what suicide support services are out there. Refreshments will also be available at this stage along with local music.
The second part of the evening will involve a number of speakers talking about their own experiences. The first speaker on the night is Bernie Carroll, Resource Officer, Suicide Prevention, HSE, who will speak about the statistics around suicide and the community supports that are available to people. The next person to speak on the night is Caroline McGuigan, CEO, Suicide or Survive, who will speak about her own experiences. Carol Anne Milton will speak about her own experiences of family bereavement through suicide Finally Margo O’ Donnell Roche, Volunteer Co-ordinator with Aras Follain will speak about the R and R Project that will be rolled out in North Tipperary.
The event is free of charge and is open to everyone. It is a great opportunity for everyone in the community to find out about the services and supports that are available and also to hear people’s stories about their own experiences.
