Frank Delaney visited Nenagh library on Wednesday 19th November as part of the ‘Tipperary Reads’ project and charmed all those he spoke to with his wit and perception, particularly with regard to the art of writing. He read from his novel ‘Tipperary’, explained the background to the novel and then took questions from the audience on the book, his writing career and what writing meant to him. Always entertaining and informative, he gave some practical insights into being a professional writer, the publishing world and whether a book can successfully be translated into another medium eg, film. In response to questions from the audience he spoke of favourite Irish authors and gave his opinion of some of the upcoming ones.
With light refreshments served afterwards the small intimate crowd had the opportunity to speak to Frank personally and pose for photographs with him. We would like to thank him for generously giving his time and for a very entertaining evening. We would also like to thank Lorraine Treacy, from Thurles library, for facilitating this visit. Let’s hope the ‘Tipperary Reads’ project goes from strength to strength in the coming years.
