Nenagh Library, in association with Europe Direct, is delighted to announce a visit by well-known children’s author and seanchai Eddie Lenihan. Eddie will provide a story-telling session for 8-12 year olds at the library on Wednesday August 3rd at 3 p.m. Don’t miss this event as Eddie is sure to provide an excellent afternoon of entertainment.

Lenihan is particularly well-known for his tales of Irish folk heroes, fairies, fallen angels, and other supernatural beings as recorded in Irish mythology, folklore and oral history. He has also published poetry, stories about historical and legendary women of Ireland, and railroad history. In his role as a cultural preservationist he maintains the largest private collection of folklore in Ireland.

In gratitude to the excellent storytellers who have shared their proud and ancient Irish tradition with him down the years – and who were so insistent that it should not die – Eddie has done his best, through personal appearances, as well as books, tapes, CDs and video, to spread the wonderful message of Irish lore – no difficult task, since its own very depth and scope make it a world unparalleled.
