Win a place on one of Ireland’s top cookery courses
Share your favourite traditional recipe and the story behind it

In recent years there has been a huge revival of interest in how our food is produced and how it is prepared. The rise in popularity of reality cooking shows, celebrity chefs, cookery journalism, books and courses has many of us rushing back into the kitchen to put our new culinary knowledge to the test. The result has been a burst of creativity and adding new twists to old recipes has become standard kitchen procedure!
To celebrate and promote Ireland’s growing food heritage, the public libraries are running a competition…
We’d love to hear your favourite recipe and the story behind it. Share it and you could win a place on one of Ireland’s top cookery courses!

  • What dishes are traditional in your home?
  • What secret ingredients have you added to make them your own?
  • Maybe there’s a recipe that’s been handed down through the generations?

To enter, simply submit:
• Your favourite recipe (Word document)
• The story behind the recipe (Word document)
• Photos or videos of the preparation and the finished product!

Entries should be sent to librariesdevelopment@lgma.ie with the subject line “Irish Recipe Competition” by 5pm on Friday, 27th February 2015.

Don’t forget to include your name, your contact details and the name of your library!
Terms & Conditions
Five winners will be announced in March.
There is no limit to the number of recipes individuals can enter into the competition.
All material submitted should be the individual’s own creation or not subject to copyright.
Entries will be uploaded to the Irish national public library website AskaboutIreland.ie and the European cultural heritage website Europeana.eu.
All material submitted may be made available online under the terms of the Creative Commons CC0 license for unrestricted re-use. For details, see Creativecommons.org.
