There have been many horrific instances of school shootings in modern society, but what makes Bang, Bang, You’re Dead!, so compelling is that it is told by Mia, who believes that her twin brother Jamie is responsible. The author builds the tension superbly and the reader feels as if they are inching their way along the school corridor towards classroom 9D and the gunman. Short sharp sentences increase the feeling of hysteria. The ending is completely
unexpected and rather a shock.
