Amateur artist and author, Michael Fogarty, is a native of Thurles and was educated at Thurles CBS. Having spent most of his working life in the electrical industry, he recently decided to take some time out for himself and explore the subtleties of the art world. Essentially a self taught artist, Michael coupled his new found ability with his keen interest in, and love of, the Irish countryside, resulting in his artwork being composed almost exclusively of Irish landscapes and seascapes. Of particular interest to Michael are the climatically busy skies which are as much a part of our Irish environment as the landscapes themselves and this is evidenced by the attention paid to cloud detail in the majority of his paintings
A close second to his love of painting is Michael’s interest in writing. His recently published novel, ‘Right Of Succession’ has sold worldwide and is available to borrow in Thurles Library.
