Clonmel Library Craft Circle members and friends have begun work on a very special hand-made quilt project to support C.A.R.E. Cancer Support Centre Clonmel.

In 2017 the Suir Dragon Paddlers, a local rowing group of breast cancer survivors and their families and friends, collected almost 1000 women’s bras to raise funds for C.A.R.E. and created a powerful display of these bras to raise awareness of breast cancer. This bountiful collection became available to the craft group who have plans to create a magnificent quilt upcycling the bras and other types of donated fabric. This quilt called, Close to My Heart, will be on display in Clonmel Library as part of Clonmel Craft Circle annual exhibition in November where it will be raffled off and all funds raised will be donated to C.A.R.E.

Craft Circle members invite you to help them create this quilt while meeting up with like-minded sewing enthusiasts or learning new skills both hand sewing and machine sewing. Craft Circle members will be on hand to assist.

This project is presented and supported as part of Healthy Ireland at Your Library, the Government-led strategy which aims to improve health and wellbeing and overall quality of life for all. Crafting is now seen as one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to improve health and wellbeing for all ages.

Ring Lesley 087 2603753 or Clonmel Library 052 6124545 for all the details or drop in to the first sewing session in Clonmel Library on Monday 21st May, 10.00 to 1.00pm and join in the fun for a very worthy cause.

All are welcome
