DESCRIPTION:Would you like to learn the ancient art of silk painting? Carrick on Suir library is running a 6 week course during which you will learn how to apply paint to silk fabric stretched in a wooden frame. \nArtist Inseun Kim\, who has experience teaching fine art in Korea and also works as a tutor with STAG (Clonmel)\, will be our teacher. She says applying colour to silk can be regarded as a kind of art therapy based on the depth of colour created by the proper harmony of water and dyes and the tranquility brought by the harmony of the two materials. \nThe art classes are suitable for complete beginners and all materials will be supplied. DESCRIPTION:Templemore Library Creative Weaving and Basketry with Lynn Kirkham \nFriday 3 May at 2.00pm – 4.00pm \nFree workshop with one of the first contemporary basket makers in Ireland\, Lynn is well-known for her woven artworks. Since the 1990’s\, Sharing and upholding traditional skills has been an important part of her work. Through talks\, classes and events\, she helped to provoke an entire movement in the creative use of willow and other sustainable natural materials. Lynn frequently works with groups\, families and individuals\, building artworks from their own ideas.
