SUMMARY:ATTENTION/INTENTION A Photographic Exhibition by Mark Collins\, The Source Library\, Thurles
DESCRIPTION:Mark Collins is an award-winning freelance photographer currently living in Holycross. Having spent 20 years working as a cinematographer in the Australian film industry\, August 2019 saw Mark returning home to the land of his birth\, Ireland. Upon seeing what was both his past and now present with fresh eyes\, Mark was inspired to photograph his surroundings. Mark’s careful and meditative approach to the detail and materiality of the subject examines a notion to look more closely at the world around us and discover beauty in unusual or unexpected places and moments. Mark’s exhibition can be viewed for the month of August during library opening hours. For further details contact Thurles Library on 052-6166131.

SUMMARY:September Art Exhibition in Nenagh Library
DESCRIPTION:Nenagh Library is showcasing the work of three different artists in September\, welcoming back sisters Lian Knight – Hogan and Edwina Knight who are joined this month by newcomer\, Barry Lemasney. \nLian a self-taught artist\, working mainly in watercolours. Asked to sum up her creative philosophy she says\, ‘to me painting is not a chore but an exciting anticipation of the wonders of the human brain to see\, to interpret and to enjoy my simple surroundings\, while capturing that sparkle.’ \nBarry Lemasney\, from Castleconnell\, trained as a printmaker in the Limerick School of Art and Design\, graduating in 2018 with a first class honours in Fine Art. His interest is in portraiture and landscapes\, working in oils and acrylic. His paintings in this exhibition focus on landscapes\, particularly different aspects of the river Shannon\, in an attempt to capture the varying moods of the river and thereby showcase the fragility of its ecosystem. \nEdwina Knight is a visual artist. A graduate of the Limerick School of art and Design with a degree in fine Art Sculpture and teaching\, Edwina divides her time between teaching and painting. A seasoned exhibitor\, she will remain with Nenagh Library for the month of October. \n
