The award winning restoration programme has seen three major rewetting works phases involving the NPWS\, Coillte Forest and fifty private landowners to bring 90% of Scohaboy`s 1500 acres under conservation and rewetting measures. The Cloughjordan Community Development Association are the community partners in the restoration programme.\nFormed over thousands of years\, peat is a type of soil made from partially decayed organic matter. Around 20% of Ireland’s land area is covered by peatland – in the form of bogs and fens – it’s one of the country’s most precious natural resources and our oldest `near-nature` landscape. The high bog area at Scohaboy is an unbroken link to the last ice-age\, an ecological gem 10\,000 years in formation.\nPeatlands are highly effective natural systems for capturing and storing carbon\, and therefore play a vital role in tackling the climate crisis. Léifidh ealaíontóir na bhfocal labhartha Joanne Callinan an saothar seo (Gaeilge agus Béarla) agus seinnfidh Emer scór tionlacain beo nuachumtha don lucht féachana i Leabharlann\, An tAonach Urmhumhan\, Co Thiobraid Árann. Tá an ócáid seo SAOR IN AISCE le freastal ar agus oiriúnach do gach aoisghrúpa agus cainteoir Gaeilge ag gach leibhéal\, ó thosaitheoirí go hardleibhéal. Léirigh Joanne agus Emer an saothar seo den chéad uair chun Oíche Chultúir 2022 a cheiliúradh i Músaem an Chláir\, Inis\, do lucht féachana de 17 duine\, agus 300 amharc tríd bheoshruthú ar líne a chur ar fáil.\n\nMentored by Dairena Ní Chinnéide\, and funded by Foras na Gaeilge\, Emer OʼFlaherty has recently written a collection of bilingual poems entitled ‘Teach – House’ \, memories of a childhood home and it’s evolution over a lifetime. Spoken word artist Joanne Callinan will read this work and Emer will play a newly composed live accompanying score to an intimate audience.
