Thursday afternoon last marked the successful finalisation of our Growing Imaginations Project in Cashel Library. We were delighted to have our County Librarian, Damien Dullaghan and Michael Fitzgerald, Cathaoirleach of Cashel-Tipperary Municipal District among us to highlight the importance of this project. We could not have chosen a more inspirational speaker to launch the project than Dr. Sinead Kane. Sinead is the first legally blind lady to complete the World Marathon Challenge of seven marathons, on seven continents, in seven days, and offered us plenty of tips and advice on how adversity and resilience can stimulate growth and potential.
Growing Imaginations have met in Cashel Library every Thursday since January, with 11 participants from The Irish Wheelchair Association and the Nagle Centre. Members of the group each produced their own book, telling their life-stories through art, with the help of artist Elena Sawczenko. Cashel Library Craft Circle made the beautiful bags which hold each of these wonderful books. Pop in to Cashel Library to see the end result!
The project has been a fantastic one, enjoyed thoroughly by all who took part. Thank you to all who attended the launch.
