DESCRIPTION:As part of our National Heritage Week Programme Carrick-On-Suir Library are proud to present an afternoon of storytelling with Seanchaithe and host of the Tell Me A Story Podcast\, Eddie Lenihan. \n\n\n\nEddie Lenihan\, is an Irish author\, storyteller\, lecturer and broadcaster. He is one of the few practising seanchaithe remaining in Ireland. He has been called “one of the greatest of Irish story-tellers”\, and “a national treasure.” \n\n\n\nEddie will be joining us in the library on August 21st\, at 2pm. This is a free event but places are limited so booking is essential. SUMMARY:Celtic Calendar Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join local artist Colin Bolger for a hands on art workshop based on the Celtic Calendar Year and its magical links to the underworld. \nThis engaging workshop explores the ancient Celtic calendar\, blending myth\, art\, and heritage. Participants will learn about the four Celtic seasons (Imbolc\, Bealtaine\, Lughnasa\, Samhain)\, the Ogham tree alphabet\, and the rich folklore that underpins them. Through guided drawing exercises the participants will create their own symbolic calendars\, weaving personal connection and creativity into the design. \nThe workshop duration is 3hrs 30mins and all materials will be provided. \nThis workshop takes place in Carrick on Suir library on a Tuesday August 19th from 12.30pm\, and is part of our Heritage Week Programme. \nThis workshop is for persons 18 and over. DESCRIPTION:The John James Quinn (1873-1944) Collection contains photographs\, glass plate negatives\, postcards\, and personal letters created and collected by Irish photographer John James Quinn of Ballypatrick\, Clonmel in the late 19th and early 20th century. Quinn was an avid photographer who documented his life in both Ireland and abroad through images. Spanning a period of great change in Ireland\, this collection provides insight into the evolving landscape and culture of Quinn’s native country in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. \nThe accompanying Tipperary Studies documentary film ‘I Hope All My Friends Come Out Safe will be shown on Wednesday\, May 28th at 6pm.

DESCRIPTION:The John James Quinn (1873-1944) Collection contains photographs\, glass plate negatives\, postcards\, and personal letters created and collected by Irish photographer John James Quinn of Ballypatrick\, Clonmel in the late 19th and early 20th century. Quinn was an avid photographer who documented his life in both Ireland and abroad through images. Spanning a period of great change in Ireland\, this collection provides insight into the evolving landscape and culture of Quinn’s native country in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. \nThe accompanying Tipperary Studies documentary film ‘I Hope All My Friends Come Out Safe will be shown on Wednesday\, May 28th at 6pm.
