We had the whole of County Tipperary reading ‘Tipperary – A novel’ for it’s first Tipperary Reads initiative. Tipperary born, best selling author Frank Delaney is the chosen author for 2008 and his latest book ‘Tipperary – a novel’ is the chosen novel. Frank is travelling especially from New York to meet his readers and to chair a series of discussion groups in libraries throughout Tipperary.
This project has been generously sponsored by The Arts Council, The Cashel Palace, Tipperary Crystal, Coolmore, and IES, O’Mahony’s and Bookworm booksellers. The aim of this initiative is to bring the whole county together by reading the same book at the same time and then coming together to discuss the book. The novel is set primarily in the south of the county during the period 1860- 1930.
It features many well known Irish characters such as WB Yeats, Oscar Wilde and Charles Stewart Parnell. Remember it is not too late to get involved in this exciting project, why not call into your local library to pick up a copy today. Everyone is welcome.
