Tipperary Reads 2012: Patrick Gale

On Friday 9th & Saturday 10th November, the readers of Tipperary were delighted to welcome the immensely talented author Patrick Gale to County Tipperary for this year’s Tipperary Reads Festival. Patrick treated his audience to several exciting readings from his novel ‘A Perfectly Good Man’, the focus novel of the Festival.
The novel is set in the beautiful Cornish countryside where 20 year old Lenny Barnes, paralysed  in a rugby accident, dies by suicide in front of the local parish priest Barnaby Johnson. Richard and Judy chose the book for their recent book club and have described it as ‘A deeply intelligent, humane examination of the meaning of goodness. This book is a joy ’.
Afterwards, Patrick spent time answering readers questions about the novel as well as questions about his other work. This was his first professional visit to Tipperary and he has certainly left behind a huge new army of fans who eagerly await his next offering.
