The children of Scoil Micheal Naofa Holycross paid a visit to Thurles library for World Book Day. This is a very special day for the 3rd class students as all the activities they take part in on this day are all book based!
The children called to Bookworm bookstore en route to the library where they get a World Book day book using their book token. They continue to the library dressed in their favourite book character costume to find out more about how the library works. We had Mary Poppins and Bert the chimney sweep in our group who had very impressive costumes indeed!
Suzanne spoke to the children about the library service, joining the library, borrowing books and mentioned lots of the free events that are held for children throughout the year. After listening to all the information throughout the morning it was time to do the library scavenger hunt! This was great fun and the class really enjoyed following the clues to get their answers!
Finally we had a look at the Thurles town model by Jim Condon this really impressed all of the children.
Thank you to Ms Patricia Lowry class teacher who brought the pupils to visit the library and we are delighted that all the 3rd class students are now members of Thurles library! They can’t wait to get checking out books with the new kiosks!
Now it’s our turn to go back to school and visit Scoil Micheal Naofa and we can’t wait!
