📚 Book Launch: Out of the Shadows – The Invisible Women of Nenagh
Join us at Nenagh Library on Tuesday, 18 August at 6.30pm for the launch of a special commemorative booklet celebrating the remarkable women who have helped shape the history and life of the Nenagh area.
Launched by Ms. Siobhan McGowan, the booklet highlights women whose contributions enriched the educational, economic, political, social and cultural life of the district. Their stories span more than 170 years, from the arrival of the Mercy Sisters in 1854 to the legacy of the late GAA stalwart Elizabeth Howard.
Among those featured are The Hon. Mrs. Juliana Roberts, the Rohan Sisters, Mary Bridget Ryan (Lacken), Maggie Ryan, and Nora Butler Swan. Each woman left a unique mark on the community, often overcoming challenges and defying the expectations of their time.
This project aims to preserve and share the stories of these extraordinary women so that their contributions are remembered and passed on to future generations.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
