Services

Public PCs – Use your Library Card (Barcode) number and PIN to log into any public PC for 50-minute sessions. Members are permitted two 50-minute session per day.

Printing – Print from our public PCs or send documents from your phone or other devices via our remote printing options. You can also print from USB memory sticks.

Prices are: Colour – 50c a sheet; Black & White – 20c a sheet.

Scanning – Scan a document and send it to any email address or save it to a USB memory stick.

FREE of charge.

Photocopying – Copy documents or ID cards.

WiFi – Use our free WiFi by logging into the “Library Card Login” network using your Library Card (Barcode) number and PIN.

Eduroam – Students of Further and Higher Education institutions can immediately connect to WiFi via the Eduroam network.

Self-Service Kiosk – Borrow and return books, collect remote printing jobs, view loan list and renew loans using our self-service kiosks.

Assistive Technologies – You can borrow items such as the C-Pen Readerpen and ACORN Age Friendly tablet as well as items from our Sensory Toys & Resources catalogue.

Study Space – Limited study space available. Contact branch as regards availability.

Sensory Space – Includes Sensory den, a selection of items from our Sensory Toys & Resources collection, Playlearn Colour Changing cylinder, Fibre optics for visual and tactile stimulus.

Magic Table – Interactive game and image projector. Projections respond to the movements of the user via infrared sensors

Exhibition & Activity space – A room for displaying work by local artists and other creatives as well as hosting club and group events/activities.

Children’s Reading Area – Chairs, a communal table, seating rings, colouring pages and crayons are all available to give children a bright, comfortable and welcoming space where they can spend time reading, colouring or just relaxing.

Newspapers & Magazines – FREE editions of a variety of Newspapers and Magazines are available for patrons to read in the library. Titles include The Irish Independent, The Nenagh Guardian, The Midland Tribune, The Tipperary Star, Ideal Home, ELLE and Livingetc.

Many of our branches have dedicated exhibition spaces which serve as display areas, meeting rooms, lecture halls and performance venues. Are you an artist, sculptor, photographer or crafter with a collection of work you would love to put on display for the general public? Our exhibition spaces can be booked for a huge variety of artistic displays and can be the perfect platform to bring your work to a wider audience. Each show will also be promoted via our social media channels.

Use the Sensory Space and Magic Table

All our branches have Sensory Spaces which are free to use. There will be a sensory den with a selection of visual, tactile, auditory, proprioceptive and vestibular stimuli. Our Sensory Toys & Resources catalogue is also available to peruse should you wish to borrow items. 

Magic Tables are an award-winning, innovative technological offering. They project interactive games and vibrant images onto tables or floors. These games and images respond to the movements of the user via infrared sensors. To use the Magic Table just ask staff in the branch.

Book the Event & Exhibition Space

Thurles library has an impressive Event and Exhibition space that can be used by artists and other creatives to display their work. We also have regular author talks and guest speakers as part of our itinerary of events in the library. To find out more about our Event and Exhibition space, including booking arrangements, talk to staff in Thurles. 

Borrow a C-Pen Readerpen

The C-Pen Readerpen is a remarkable piece of state-of-the-art assistive technology. Simply scan text with the Readerpen and it will read it aloud as you move over the words. Designed to support independent reading and learning this is a wonderful self-contained literacy tool. You can borrow the Readerpen from branches throughout the county. 

Use a PC (Computer)

All our branches have public PCs which can be accessed by anyone who has a library account. Just go to a PC and log in using your Library barcode number and your PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN just let a member of staff know and they will reset it for you. PCs are available to use for 50 minute sessions with each member entitled to 2 sessions per day.
