Terms and conditions of use

  • Each individual is allowed a maximum of 1 booking per day.
  • Bookings should be made between 1 and 7 days in advance.
  • Each booking is subject to approval by library staff. We reserve the right to cancel and/or refuse a sensory room booking.
  • Booking requests must include your name, a valid email address and mobile phone number and the name and age of the person in your care.
  • If you need to cancel a booking, please do so 24 hours in advance where possible.
  • Room reservations are forfeited if you have not arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled start of the reservation.
  • The carer must sign in at the library desk to access the Sensory Room. By signing in you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of use.
  • The individual with the sensory processing disorder, learning and development difficulty, autism or dementia must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, teacher, special needs assistant or carer (who must be over 18) in the Sensory Room, the main library and the toilets at all times.
  • No more than two people are allowed in the Sensory Room at one time. Special allowance may be made for a family or other group up to a maximum of 5 people.
  • Please leave the room as you find it. No food or drink is allowed in the Sensory Room.
  • Please follow all safety notices and instructions.
  • Electrical switches must only be operated by the parent, guardian, teacher, special needs assistant or carer under the instruction of a member of staff.
  • Please inform us if you or the person in your care has an accident, however minor, as staff will have to record the incident. There is a First Aid kit available at reception.
  • Please report any breakages or damage to a member of staff immediately.
  • Use of equipment will be entirely at the risk of the carer.
  • Use of the Sensory Room is free.
  • The Sensory Room is monitored by CCTV.
  • Toilets are located within the main library building, tokens to access the toilets are available at the library desk.
  • In the event of a fire, emergency or on hearing an alarm, please follow the instructions of staff.
  • By signing these Terms and Conditions you agree to them on your first visit and on all subsequent visits.
