Around Our Town Ep. 9 – Harry Clarke’s The Adoration of the Maji (Old Saint Mary’s Part 3)

This stained glass window in the south aisle of Old Saint Mary’s was donated by Mrs J.F. Read (née Tinsley) and installed by Harry Clarke studios in 1946 to commemorate the Tinsley family. The design was executed by Terence Clarke nephew of Harry Clarke, and depicts the Adoration of the Infant Jesus by the Magi. (A Dinner of Herbs, p.221, S Watson)

Around Our Town is a project being undertaken by Clonmel Library and local Clonmel man Shay Hurley. Over the coming weeks we will take a closer look at some of the town’s historical places of interest.
