There was great excitement at the Source Library, Thurles on Tuesday 17th of June for the launch of Summer Stars 2025. The launch was performed by Cllr Declan Burgess, Cathaoirleach Tipperary County Council, in the presence of Damien Dullaghan, County Librarian, Pat Bracken, Senior Executive Librarian, Gerry Flannery, Branch Manager and Aoife Peters, Library Assistant. Also present was the wonderful magician “Spageddy Eddy” who performed for Scoil Ailbhe 3rd class and their teachers.
In welcoming the pupils to the library Cllr Burgess outlined how wonderful the Summer Stars programme is for children and highlighted its benefit in promoting reading and learning during the summer months. He told the pupils that he is a regular library user, and he also asked them about all about the various activities which a library brings to a community. The pupils were able to give several examples and told the Cathaoirleach how often they visit the library. With the launch complete the floor was handed over to “Spageddy Eddy” who entertained the pupils and their teachers with a most wonderful and entertaining magic show!
